Jupiter Island

Jupiter Island, a small enclave in Martin County, nestled between the Atlantic and the Intracoastal Waterway, is one of the wealthiest zip codes in the nation. Jupiter Island is situated in the community of Hobe Sound and prides itself on seclusion, solitude and tranquility for its approximately 800 year-round and 2000 seasonal residents who enjoy large expanses of private ocean frontage.

The town website describes Jupiter Island as “alive with genteel living, friendship and compatibility” presumably referring in part to the Jupiter Island Club, one of the finest private residential retreats in America.

Jupiter Island’s two lane 10-mile-long Beach Road is a favorite with bicyclists as the roads are largely devoid of vehicular traffic. A favorite stop is the Nature Conservancy’s Blowing Rocks Preserve which is open to the public and offers swimming and snorkeling.

Other attractions include Martin County Beach Park which is popular with surfers and Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, home to reptiles, mammals and over 175 species of birds.
